Bridges on the Ure 2021
Aims
To celebrate the visit to the area of the famous British artist JMW Turner in
August 1816 over the summer of 2021.
Objectives
To invite individuals to submit artworks in any practicable medium that celebrate the bridges over the River Ure in North Yorkshire of which there are a number in various locations. A full list will be provided shortly. Entrants can select one or more bridges.
Entrants
Anyone can enter and there will be a children’s and young people’s section (under 18) and an adults section (18 and over)
The competition is not restricted to professional artists.
There is no charge for entering.
Entrants must supply their own materials and equipment and all artworks must be framed or presented in appropriate manner for public display.
Mediums
Artworks can be in any two dimensional medium and this can include sketches, drawings, prints, paintings, and photographs.
Mixed (new) media works may also be submitted which might include short digital films or soundtracks/poems inspired by Turners viewpoints.
Prizes
Adults: over 18’s
First Prize : Two nights B&B for two people sharing a double room at the
Bull Inn in West Tanfield on a weekend which will include one Sunday lunch for two.
Second Prize: One nights B & B for two people sharing a double or twin room
at the historic and charming Bull Inn, West Tanfield, on one Saturday night which will
include one Sunday lunch for two. .
Third Prize: Sunday lunch for two at the The Bull Inn.
Prizes will be in the form of vouchers and may include some exclusions.
Prizes
Children and Young People (under 18)
First prize : Gift voucher for £50
Second Prize : Gift Voucher for £25
Third Prize: Gift Voucher for £10
Judging
Judging will take place after the closing date for entries.
Exhibiting after the competition:
Winners
At the conclusion of the competition the winning entries will be displayed in the Bull Inn, West Tanfield until the end of September 2021.
Work may be priced for sale during the exhibition period and should carry information on such as medium, subject, price etc. plus contact number.
Other entrants
Entrants not selected for a prize may have their work shown at The Bull Inn after the competition closes subject to space being available.
Submission Dates:
Artwork to be submitted by Friday July 16. 2021
